Employee housekeeper alleged PAGA causes of action brought against her employer hotel for requiring the housekeeping and maintenance staff to work through its meal breaks notwithstanding the fact that employer automatically deducted thirty minutes from their pay for meal breaks. Employer did not require housekeeping and maintenance staff to maintain any meal break waivers. Housekeeping and maintenance staff were also required to carry and pick up business-related phone calls on their personal cell phones throughout the work day.
